Last June 5th, we celebrated World Environment Day and the 3rd anniversary of the blog Essência do Ambiente with ‘Prémios Essência do Ambiente’. The ceremony took place at the Environmental Education Center of Quinta do Passal, in Gondomar. The initiative intended to show that Portugal is on the path to a Circular and Sustainable Economy, highlighting high merit projects with civil society. The winners: • Good Practices Category - Reuse of Treated Wastewater in a School Context, Loulé City Council • Category Environmental Education Used Clothes are not finished, Sarah Trading • Environmental Awareness Category - Poupança sem Fronteiras Water Challenge, by Águas do Algarve • Social and Environmental Responsibility Category - Marita Moreno Sustainable Concept Store, Marita Moreno • Research Category - Greenfishing Port, UCMar, University of Coimbra During the event, it was also possible to attend a debate on the Voluntary Carbon Market in Portugal: the social, economic and environmental impact, whose panel included interventions by Isabel Soares, Full Professor/EMERITUS Professor at the University of Porto, Horácio Reis and Rita Brandão, from Omnitalentum Energia e Ambiente. The initiative had the partnership of Pro.Comunicação, Porto Canal and the Municipality of Gondomar. Get to know the winning projects here!
